Germany's inflation 'time bomb'

The Ukraine war has had repercussions around the world. In Germany, people are fearing for their prosperity.

Exacerbated by Russia's strategic strangling of Europe's gas supplies, inflation has risen in Germany.

According to Germany's welfare organizations, 13.8 million Germans either live in poverty or are at risk of slipping below the poverty line. The German government also voices its concerns about the growing gap between rich and poor.

Politicians and senior officials have been warning that energy needed to be conserved to make sure there are no shortages this winter.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz has called for the population to "link arms and stick together."
