German Book Prize: Lutz Seiler

October 11, 2014

Lutz Seiler was a poet before writing his debut novel - and now he’s won one of the most coveted accolades in German-language literature. ʺKrusoʺ is a fascinating tale of young dissidents in communist East Germany, marooned on the island of Hiddensee as the Berlin Wall is about to fall. As well as referencing "Robinson Crusoe” in its title, the novel also echoes its theme of yearning for freedom.
